If you’re looking for a site that promises a lot and delivers absolutely nothing, this is the one. This site is stupid, useless, and tries too hard while not providing a useful service.
Probably what we hate the most about iHookup.com is that it looked really legitimate and interesting at the start, but disappointed us so thoroughly the more time we spent there.
How did it disappoint us? Read on…
iHookup.com Review: Why We Believe iHookup.com Is a Scam
The reason we were so excited about this site in the first place is because it’s obviously trying to be eHarmony…but without all the science and success to back it up.
The site looks good. It looks professional and clean, and the layout is impressive for a site that seems so young.
When you first log on, you’ll notice that they’re very proud of what they call their “chemistry” science. They use this, apparently, to hook you up with women in your area that are going to be a hit. According to the site, this is the “only” site that makes sure your match will “sizzle” when you first meet up in real life with this person.
First of all, there’s no way to tell that before you meet. We’ve had chemistry with tons of women online that fell flat in real life, and been uninterested in others before we saw the sparkle of their eyes. The only way this is science is that it shares its letters with a Bachelor of Science.
Analysis Of iHookup.com: Why iHookup.com Is Not Legit
We could easily forgive the obvious BS (that was the joke in the previous paragraph, by the way) if the site were full of hot women relying on chemistry science to hook them up. However, that wasn’t the case at all.
We met very few women on this site.
Of the 720 emails we sent out during our time on iHookup.com, we were expecting to get at least a few hundred back. After all, the site is still pretty young, and there had to be several girls who hadn’t realized yet that it was just based on a single gimmick that wasn’t all that great or interesting in the first place.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to have been the case. We only got back 163 emails, a pretty disappointing finish. Yes, we mostly copied and pasted them from other very successful emails from other websites (check out our guide to sending a great first email on dating websites). Still, that’s a lot of work copy pasting for almost no reward.
Of those 163 girls, we set up dates with three of them. Three, out of 720 girls we thought were cute. Remember, this is over a period of four months, in the different cities of three different guys.
Only one of those three actually bothered to show up for our date.
Yes, our pull rate wound up being one out of 720. Maybe that’s good for some guys—and if it is, please rethink your game strategy immediately and read our advice and guides—but it’s terrible for us. Yes, that one date was okay, but just okay. Nothing to write home about. Just the fact that she showed up made this better than any other site on our negative list, but that’s not saying much of anything.
Why iHookup.com Is Not Real: More On Our iHookup.com Review
If the fact that this site doesn’t have any women for you to date on it, we don’t know what to say.
Actually, yes, we can think of several bad things to say about iHookup.com. For one thing, the site is poorly-designed. The way it’s aesthetically set up, it looks like you’re at the government-designed website for a prison.
The other thing is that the sorting algorithm is pretty broken. Expect to see hot singles “in your area” listed farther away than the space station.
iHookup.com Review: The Conclusion
iHookup is a scam, and not a terribly good one at that. This website doesn’t do much to earn your trust or your money, and you can definitely find a better use for your time elsewhere. Check out a good dating website, for example, like SocialSex, our personal top pick!
