Good things happen when you least expect them. When you’re sitting at a bar, after work and enjoying that post work cool down brew, you are not expecting to have some twenty something babe plop herself down next to you and start chatting you up. First, don’t try to put logic around what’s happening. Be a man, roll with it. We’re going to break down the best ways to react to a girl picking you up and you try to keep those in mind while you’re thanking the powers that be for your good fortune (send some our way, all right?).
Yeah, that’s the same sort of trite advice that all those lame ass dating guides say. But it’s true. Relax and pretend that hotties just saunter up and talk to you all the time. Women are competitive by nature and if she feels like she’s pinged someone that other people are interested in, it will make her all the more driven to keep talking to you. When she’s asking you questions make sure that you listen to what she’s saying and when you answer don’t seem over eager to talk to her, even if inside you’re playing an air guitar. If you need, just shrug and take a breath or two. Remember, she wants to talk to you, obviously, just roll with it. When you see an opening, try to get her talking about herself.
Make Room for Her
If she’s coming up to you while you’re sitting at a bar, make sure that there is room for her to sit down without touching you. Women are fairly defensive of their personal space. Make sure that she has a chair or a bar stool. If you have to slide over one or ask someone to make room, go ahead and do so. Remember, you want her to stick around and talk more; you don’t want her to feel uncomfortable and shuffle off. After she has a seat, make sure that your body posture is nonthreatening. Lean back and keep your shoulders down. Keep your chest open to her. You want to seem warm and inviting to talk to.
Offer Her a Drink
Once she’s comfortable, you can talk about the bar. If there is a local brew that you’re really fond of, now would be the time to offer her a drink. Not only does that make you seem comfortable, it makes you seem like you have some knowledge of the area and the local beers that are available. It’s also a great conversation starter. Most large cities have beer festivals on a regular basis. If you can get her talking about what she likes to drink then it can open the conversation to going to try the beer somewhere else with you.
Remember, just because a babe starts a conversation does not mean that she’s going to go for asking you out. A lot of girls are nervous about asking guys out. They think that it’s off-putting. What they don’t realize is that it’s great for them to take some of the pressure off, but maybe they’ll figure that out sooner or later.
